Created byBluefire610
Last Updated bySpecialBuilder32 & Bluefire610
Compatible MC Versions1.15

This module allows golden swords to inflict potion effects on mobs and players.

Features

Attacking mobs with the poison potion

When attacking with a golden sword, players with certain potions in their inventory will cause enemies nearby to be afflicted with a corresponding potion effect. With each strike, "a small amount of potion is sprayed into the air around the blade", thus never consuming the potion item in the process. The striker will not be affected by any of the effects.

Effects

Carrying the following potion in your inventory will cause the corresponding effect.

Potion Type Effect
Slowness (Extended) Causes nearby mobs to be unable to move for 4 seconds
Poison II Withers nearby mobs for 4 seconds
Instant Health II Applies absorption for 8 seconds to nearby players
Invisibility (Extended) Applies invisibility for 8 seconds to nearby players

Wither Skeletons

Afflicting a skeleton with wither will cause it to transform into a wither skeleton. The wither skeleton will have the same equipment as the skeleton it came from, but will not drop any items when it dies.

Technical Details

Potions effect enemies with 2.5 blocks of a point 2 blocks in front of the striker, though only the directly attacked skeleton will transform into a wither skeleton.

The potion effects are not mutually exclusive, and can all be used at once.

Wither Skeletons are given an empty loot table which prevents all item drops, except for when they are blown up by a charged creeper, in which case they will drop their skull.

Advancements

Advancement Description Requirement
Instant Regret Wither-ize a skeleton with potion swords. Strike a skeleton with the wither effect (Poison II potion)

Previous Versions

MC 1.8 Version

The MC 1.8 version did not have achievements. Additionally, the invisibility effect was not present in this version. For Slowness and Poison, the area of effect on mobs was 3 blocks around the striker. For Instant Health and Invisibility, the area of effect on players was 5 blocks around the striker. The instant health effect would affect the striker in this version. A witherized skeleton would have a normal wither skeleton loot table. The invisibility potion would only last 4 seconds in this version.

MC 1.9-1.12 Versions

In the MC 1.9-1.12 versions, the advancements were actually a simulated achievement, using tellraw to show the message. This has been transferred to advancements upon the release of the 1.13 version.
