This module allows you to craft lightning rods to summon lightning at any location.

Details

Throwing a lightning rod on the ground will initiate a countdown of approximately 3 seconds. The time until the rod attracts lightning is displayed above it, and particles are emitted from the rod. During this time, the rod can be picked up again to cancel the countdown. Once the countdown has reached zero, a bolt of lightning is summoned at it's location and the item is destroyed.

Dropping a lightning rod onto a purpur block, will turn it into a Shulker upon the lightning strike.

Technical Summary

The rod will only start counting down once it touches the floor. Multiple rods stacked together will not count down.

Crafting

Lightning rods can be crafted in a custom crafter using blaze powder surrounding a stick.

Previous Versions

MC 1.8 Version

The MC 1.8 Version (v1.0) did not have achievements. Additionally, Shulkers were not in the game, thus could not be created by striking a purpur block. In this version, lightning rods would turn a Creeper Spawner into a Charged Creeper Spawner if dropped directly onto the spawner.

MC 1.9-12. Versions

In the MC 1.9-1.12 versions (v2.0-2.2), the advancements were actually a simulated achievement, using tellraw to show the message. This has been transferred to advancements upon the release of the 1.13 version (unreleased).
