Public Server 6/Community/Skarstind

Skarstind is a collection of mountain towns on Public Server 6. The town centre is at (-3660, -3580). The town is famous for its high quality of life, and most players aspire to live in the town.

History

The town was founded when the first house was built as part of the server's starter house build competition. When players began expressing interest in building in the area, a town hall opened, followed by a post office, with information on how to build in the town.

The first major expansion came as part of the town's internal build competition, held as an attempt to encourage more players to build in the area. While a ziprail had existed for many months, Daubenhorn was nothing more than an old, abandoned village before the competition. The town of Daubenhorn was entirely rebuilt into its current form, with kyrkis serving as the town's self-declared mayor.

The region of Grünerhorn was also developed as part of the competition, though it was one of the last towns to be connected to Skarstind by ziprail.

Stamsfeld, to the North of Skarstind, was one of the later regions to be developed. It was the host of the town's second internal build competition, which attracted more varied submissions than the first. It currently houses a small airstrip, restaurant, church, sauna, and some housing.

The Greenlandic region, Skarstaaq, was the last region to be founded, and only constructed in the final weeks before the server's close. Being in the valley, it was challenging to reach until a railway was built to the main town. As a result of these challenges and the harsh living conditions, only one resident remain, however it remains an important town on the route from Skarstind to the Stál Kingdom.

Points of Interest

The town is home to a post office, as in Platopia. There is a statue of the official bird of Skarstind in the town centre, in addition to a park and traveller's hut. Further up the mountain, a museum for Skarstind, souvenir shop, and free building resources are provided.

The main attraction of Skarstind is the beauty of the natural surroundings, which can be best appreciated outside the town. There is a pathway up to a small mountain hut for this purpose, beginning next to the greenhouse. Visitors may also be interested in the Greenlandic town, where many of the ancient fishing traditions are preserved by the remaining resident.

Regions

Skarstind

The main area, where most residents live. However, limited land and high property prices led many to leave the area for other nearby towns.

Daubenhorn

While once abandoned, the town was restored by kyrkis as part of the town's first build competition. It remains one of the liveliest towns in the region.

Grünerhorn

A valley with a waterfall, trees, and parkland. Home to a tavern and some residences, this town is one of the greenest, with foliage growing comfortably alongside buildings.

Stamsfeld

Being far from Skarstind, and with heavy noise pollution from the airfield, this town was largely undeveloped. It contains the only mountain airfield on PS6, as well as a restaurant and a church.

Skarstaaq

The only town to be in the valley and connected by a railway, Skarstaaq is a Greenlandic-style town. Its resident continues to survive by fishing, and the occasional visitor passing through towards the Stál Kingdom.

Transport

Skarstind is accessible by wormhole, or through the nether. A nether hub showcasing a scale map of the region, with portals linking to various places, makes it easy to reach from other regions of PS6.

Inside Skarstind, a network of ziprails connects the various towns, and a railway down the valley provides a route to Skarstaaq and the Stál Kingdom.

Political Affiliations

Skarstind is associated with the Gratis party, who provide free resources for players wishing to build in the town. Support for other parties is rare, though not unheard of.
