Details

When using a golden sword, if the player has any of 4 potions (see below) in their inventory, mobs (or in some cases the player) will affected by the potion without using up the potion in their inventory.

Technical Summary

The area of effect on mobs is 3 blocks around the striker (Slowness and Poison). The area of effect on players is 5 blocks around the striker (Instant Health and Invisibility). The potion effects can be stacked, so a single sword swing can cause all 4 potion effects.

Striking a skeleton with the Poison II potion in the player's inventory will turn it into a wither skeleton. The wither skeleton will still hold a bow.

Effects

Carrying the following potion in your inventory will cause the corresponding effect.

Potion Type Effect
Slowness (Extended) Causes nearby mobs to be unable to move for 4 seconds
Poison II Withers nearby mobs for 4 seconds
Instant Health II Applies absorption for 8 seconds to nearby players including the striker
Invisibility (Extended) Applies invisibility for 4 seconds to nearby players except the striker

Advancements

Advancement Description Requirement
Instant Regret Wither-ize a skeleton with potion swords. Strike a skeleton with the wither effect (Poision II potion)
