This is a documentation subpage for Template:Cleanup red links. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
When to use
Add this to the top of an article whenever:
- There are too many red links for this article.
- One or more of the links present (regardless of number) are inappropriate for any reason.
- Red links are generally not included in either See also sections or in navigational boxes, or pointed to with templates such as
{{Main}}
or{{Further2}}
, since these navigation aids are intended to help readers find existing articles. The exception is redlinks in navboxes where the articles are part of a series or a whole set, e.g. a navbox listing successive elections, referendums, presidents, sports league seasons, etc.
Please consider "weeding the link farm" yourself, rather than using this tag to ask someone else to do it. Don't forget to remove this template when the concerns appear to have been resolved. You can clear red links in an article systematically by running the following script.
Usage
For articles, use:
{{Cleanup red links|date=November 2024}}
To flag an individual section, use:
{{Cleanup red links|section|date=November 2024}}
This template will categorize tagged articles into Category:Wikipedia red link cleanup.
- This template is a self-reference.
- Please do not substitute this template.
